Spot-Fixing scandal: Anamul Haque Bijoy barred from leaving Bangladesh amid bpl allegations

Anamul Haque Bijoy, a well-known Bangladeshi cricketer, has been banned from traveling abroad due to allegations of spot-fixing during the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

The Bangladesh Cricket Board‍‍`s (BCB) Anti-Corruption Unit requested this travel restriction, which was then enforced by the government.

Several news outlets, citing sources from the BCB, have confirmed this development.

The BPL, which started on December 30, has been marred by rumors and concerns from the beginning.

There have been suspicions of match-fixing surrounding a number of incidents, such as teams conceding unusual amounts of runs, questionable team selections, the presence of unfamiliar foreign players, and certain overs where large numbers of runs were scored at critical moments.

Anamul, aged 32, was leading Durbar Rajshahi until January 19, when he was replaced by Taskin Ahmed.

The team claimed that this change was made to reduce the pressure on Anamul’s batting.

Curiously, Anamul had scored a century in the match just before he was removed as captain.

In addition to Rajshahi, spot-fixing allegations have emerged against players from other BPL franchises.

Some franchise owners have even pointed out suspicious activities during the matches.

Following this, the names of several players suspected of involvement in match-fixing were mentioned in various media reports.

Amid these swirling allegations, the news of Anamul’s travel ban has now come to light.

Anamul, who has played 74 matches for the national team, had a strong showing in this year‍‍`s BPL, scoring 392 runs in 12 matches, including one century.

He could have added to his total if his team had made it to the playoffs.

Rajshahi ended the league stage with 12 points, and if Khulna fails to win their match today, the controversy-ridden Rajshahi team will secure a spot in the playoffs.

The cricket community is eagerly watching how this situation will unfold, as suspicions surrounding spot-fixing continue to cast a shadow over this season’s BPL.
