The third iteration of the well-liked book fair is being held by the Gulshan Society at its lake park.
The time of the fair: Thursday through Saturday, March 9–11, 2023, 10 am–6 pm.
The occasion has developed a cult following and has become a hot ticket in the cultural landscape of the capital's annual calendar of events. Under the renowned "bot gach," or banyan tree, independent writers from South Asia, including Bangla Academy Prize winners, adorned the temporary green stage.
The event's music selection, which included mesmerizing jazz, chillhop, and Lo-Fi tracks playing throughout the space, created the ideal atmosphere in the park.
Youngsters were amused by paintings on canvas, and a baul pair from Korail who performed a heavily instagrammed mobile concert throughout the arena amazed several children.
Shayaan Seraj, the event's creator and the convenor of Gulshan Lake Park, thinks that Dhaka is developing into a megacity.
"The selection of books and music must reflect how our community is always changing. Modern and traditional elements coexist, as do the fresh and the seasoned. The ideal venue to encourage social innovation and support neighborhood growth is in parks. The goal is to build the experience and carve out a distinctive niche similar to London's Hyde Park or New York City's Central Park through these activities," he added.
