5.2 magnitude earthquake felt in Rangamati

A 5.2 magnitude earthquake was felt in Rangamati. The epicenter of the earthquake was in Myanmar, located 442 kilometers from Dhaka. This earthquake struck on Sunday, June 2, at 2:46 PM.

Farzana Sultana, Assistant Meteorologist at the Earthquake Observation Center, confirmed the incident. She stated, “An earthquake struck Myanmar, which was also felt in Rangamati district of Bangladesh. The epicenter was 442 kilometers away from Dhaka.”

Local sources reported that many residents of Rangamati town ran out of their homes when the earthquake was felt. However, due to its brief duration, many people did not realize what had happened.

Describing the situation, local resident Yasin Rana Sohel said, “The earthquake was felt at 2:46 PM. We hurriedly ran out of the office during this time.”

The last earthquake felt in various parts of the country, including the capital Dhaka, occurred on May 29. It had a magnitude of 5.4 on the Richter scale.
