9 lakh cows being slaughtered in Dhaka city

As many as 9 lakh cattle are being slaughtered in this year’s Eid-ul-Adha. Among them 6 lakh will be slaughtered in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) while Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) the rest 3 lakh.

The two city authorities revealed the information accounting till July 22 and 23 including the first day of the festival on Wednesday (July 21).

Talking to the press DNCC waste management officials said, some 3 lakh animals will be sacrificed at different parts of the corporation.

However the DSCC officials said, 6 lakh animals will be sacrificed this year in south city as the number of animal slaughtering has decreased due to the pandemic situation in comparison to other years.

DNCC and DSCC have deployed 11 thousand 508 and DSCC 10 thousand cleaning workers respectively to remove wastes of sacrificial animals.

DSCC public relation officer Md. Abu Naser said, “We have formed 10 teams to monitor the waste management in field level. Besides, a control room has also been set up”.
