Government has declared another 7-day extension of ‘tougher restriction’ from April 14 lifting its earlier order to permit opening public and private offices, transports and garment industries. State Minister for Public Administration told this to newsmen on Friday (April 9).
Earlier this morning, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, also the General Secretary of Awami League said, "In the public interest, the government is actively planning to impose a week-long strict lockdown starting April 14".
The ongoing lockdown has no effect on the oblivious mentality of the citizens, he added.
He came up with these remarks during a press briefing held at his official residence this morning.
The government announced an 11-point movement restrict earlier last week, but had to resume public transport in the city as protests broke out in several areas of the capital.
Besides, the shopping centres and malls also reopen today, as notified in a gazette on Thursday.
Yesterday, the government recorded the highest number of fatalities as the country was hit with the second wave of the deadly coronavirus.
