An officer of the Bangladesh Army stabbed to death by robbers during an operation in the Chakaria upazila of Cox`s Bazar on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Lieutenant Tanjim Sarwar Nirjhon (BA-11453).
Lieutenant Colonel Sami-Ud-Dowla Chowdhury, director of Inter-Services Public Relations, confirmed the incident.
While conducting an operation in Maizpara village, a group of robbers attempted to flee upon noticing the army patrol. Lieutenant Tanjim Sarwar Nirjhon pursued some members of the group.
Around 4 AM, he was critically injured when the robbers attacked him with a weapon. He was quickly taken to Malumghat Memorial Christian Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the attending physician.
During the operation, three members of the robbery gang were apprehended.
Lieutenant Tanjim Sarwar Nirjhon hailed from a respected Muslim family in Tangail district. He completed his higher secondary education at Pabna Cadet College and was commissioned into the Army Service Corps (ASC) on June 8, 2022, after graduating from the Bangladesh Military Academy as part of the 82nd Long Course.
