Army chief General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed said that the army sincerely wants to work with the civil administration for the sake of people’s welfare.
“Although the military and civil administrations have different functions and tasks, their aims and objectives are the same, to work for the welfare of the people,” Shafiuddin said this to the reporters after a meeting with the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) on the third day of the DC Conference at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka.
‘We now feel more comfortable working with them (civil administrations),’ the four-star general added.
The chief of Army Staff went on saying, "We want to work sincerely with the civil administration to carry out any responsibility given by the government. As you know, we also carry out disaster management and implementation duties, nation building and many security duties to support civil administration.”
While asked about the ongoing tension at Bangladesh-Myanmar border adjacent to Bandarban district, General Shafiuddin said he gave a clear statement on that issue earlier and there was nothing to say about that since the issue was not discussed at the DC Conference.
