Bangla Academy says assigned staff failed to inform reporters about press conference

Bangla Academy has issued an explanation for the postponement of its press conference, which was arranged to mark the reformation of the institution.

According to a statement released on Saturday night by the academy’s Public Relations Subdivision, the press conference was postponed due to a failure by the assigned staff to properly notify journalists.

The event, called by Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, was scheduled to take place at 2:00 PM on Saturday at the Shaheed Munir Chowdhury Conference Room. However, only five journalists were present at the appointed time.

Organizers waited for an additional hour and a half in hopes that more members of the press would arrive. When no further reporters turned up, Director General of Bangla Academy, Mohammad Azam, announced the cancellation of the event.

“Proper steps will be taken and the postponed press conference will be arranged soon, Bangla Academy said.
