Bangladesh recorded the highest ever 281 deaths of dengue in 2022. Of them, 27 died in the last month December. Alongside, a total of 62,382 patients hospitalized with the mosquito-borne viral disease throughout the year, according to data released on Sunday by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
According to the data revealed, of the 281 deaths, 173 were in Dhaka while 108 were outside of Dhaka. After Dhaka, Chattgoram division recorded the highest 69 of deaths. Then Khulna and Barisal division logged 12 deaths of dengue each.
Meanwhile, the viral disease forced 62,382 people to get admitted to hospitals across the country from January 1 to December 31. Of them, 39,320 were reported in Dhaka while 23,162 outside of Dhaka.
Of the dengue patients, 61,763 made recovery from the disease. Of them, 38,886 were in Dhaka while 22,877 reported outside of Dhaka.
Earlier, Bangladesh recorded the highest 179 deaths in 2019.
