Bangladesh government has decided to send relief and medical supplies to Syria by Bangladesh Air Force C-130J transport aircraft for post-earthquake relief.
Big tents, small tents, blankets, sweaters, dry food and medicines will be sent for relief assistance. Bangladesh Air Force Group Captain Jamil Uddin Ahmed will lead this mission, a press release of Inter Service Public Relation Directorate (ISPR) said on Friday.
The flight will be considered as special and will be operated on the Dhaka-Jordan-Syria route.
The aircraft will leave Bangladesh for Syria on February 10, 2023 and after reaching the relief materials in Syria, it will resume its journey to Bangladesh after completion of operations, the handout added.
A humanitarian crisis occurred after a 7.8-magnitude catastrophic quake struck in Syria and Turkey on early Monday.
A specialist 12-member team from the Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence has flown out to the country, joining the thousands of rescuers who have already arrived in the damaged area, according to reports.
