Aiming at condemning the tenth national elections held in 2014, BNP has declared countrywide protests on Wednesday.
Terming January 5, the day the elections were held eight years back, "a dark day", the party announced that it would stage rallies and form human chains as part of its protests.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made the annoucement during a media call at the BNP Headquarters in the capital's Paltan on Tuesday.
"January 5 is a dark day in the history of Bangladesh's elections. Eight years ago, on this day in 2014, a unilateral, controversial, fraudulent, ridiculous and farcical election was held across the country without voters and opposition candidates. Awami League has humiliated itself all over the world by holding this much-talked-about election," wrote UNB citing the BNP leader.
Awami League came to power for the second straight time through the elections held after the very last caretaker government of Bangladesh.
