Conflict over asking 2 taka extra; 2 people stabbed

Two youths were stabbed to death in Chuadanga due to a dispute over asking two taka more for clothes. The incident took place yesterday at Bhalaipur market of Sadar Upazila in Chuadanga. The deceased are Sajal (24) son of Amjad Hossain of Mathpara of Koiradanga village of Alamdanga Upazila and his friend Mamunur Rashid (25) son of Azizur Rahman of the same village.

According to police and local sources, yeserday afternoon, a woman named Chamena Khatun of Koiradanga village of Alamdanga upazila went to buy clothes at Ashraful's shop in Bhalaipur market of Sadar upazila. At that time, the shop employee Emon Hossain had an argument with the woman over two taka extra for clothes. When the argument escalated, the shop employee Emon threw the customer, Chamena Khatun out of the shop.

Chamena Khatun returned home and informed her son Tipu about the matter. Tipu and his friend Sajal, Mamunur Rashid, Palash and several others went to Ashraful's shop at around 8 pm. At that time, several people including shop owner Ashraful, employee Emon attacked them.

At one point the shop employee Emon and several others including Sanwar, Akash, Shanti, Jahangir of neighboring village stabbed Mamunur Rashid and Sajal and ran away. Locals with the help of fire service members rescued the two injured and took them to the emergency department of Chuadanga Sadar Hospital.

Sajal was declared dead at around 10:30 pm while undergoing treatment there. When Mamunur Rashid's condition became serious, the doctor shifted him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. Mamunur Rashid also died at around 11 pm on the way of shifting. 

Superintendent of Police, Abdullah Al Mamun said that several police teams are working to arrest the accused. The body is kept in the morgue. It will be handed over to the family after the post-mortem.
