Cyclone Remal has landed in the coastal areas of Bangladesh.

On Sunday night at 8 p.m., Remal began its onslaught, crossing over the western coast of Mongla, moving towards southwestern West Bengal and the coastal areas of Bangladesh, including Khulna and Patuakhali.

According to Mr. M. Shamim Ahsan, director of the Cyclone Warning Center at the Meteorological Department, during a briefing at 8 p.m., the cyclone‍‍`s center is expected to move further north and may cross over the coastal areas within one to two hours.

"The impact of the cyclone has initiated widespread rainfall accompanied by strong winds in every district of the coastal region," said Mr. Azizur Rahman, director of the Meteorological Department.

Mr. Shamim Ahsan revealed that the cyclone‍‍`s diameter is approximately 400 kilometers. By Sunday evening, it had begun to move towards the Sundarbans in the vicinity of Khulna‍‍`s coastal region, causing extensive rainfall in the area.

Meanwhile, in Kolapara, Patuakhali, a young man named Shariful Islam drowned in the waters due to the effect of the cyclone named Remal. Before succumbing to the cyclone‍‍`s strike, Shariful attempted to move his aunt and sister to safety. Unfortunately, he got swept away. Local residents, with assistance, recovered his body nearly an hour later.

On Sunday (May 26) afternoon, Shariful, a resident of the Anantapara area of Kolapara Union in Kolapara, drowned in the waters of the sea.
