Dozens of Old Dhaka residents burnt effigy of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh for his alleged failure in curbing Aedes mosquito.
Demonstrators formed a human chain and rally with the banner of ‘Agitated Old Dhaka Residents’ in front of the National Press Club on Friday (September 3).
“The increase of dengue infestation amid coronavirus pandemic is totally unacceptable. Delay in taking measures to curb mosquito resulted in the present situation while government allocated crores of money,” speakers of the rally alleged.
They said, from children to elderly persons, everyone is being infected in dengue. The city corporation authorities must take responsibility for worsening the situation.
