Popular Dhallywood actor Ferdous Ahmed has bought nomination papers from the ruling Awami League to contest the upcoming by-election to the Dhaka-17 constituency, according to media reports.
The “Hothat Brishti” actor collected the form from the political office of Awami League President Sheikh Hasina in Dhanmondi on June 5.
The constituemcy fell vacant as MP and Ferdous`s fellow thespian Akbar Hossain Pathan, popularly known as Farooque, died while undergoing treatment at Singapore`s Mount Elizabeth Hospital on May 15.
Several celebrities, including Hero Alom, have expressed their interest in contesting the by-polls to the constituency since then.
