A fire broke out at the packed book market of Nilkhet in the captal on Tuesday evening. Eight firefighting were trying to douse the fire as of 8:30pm.
However, there was no initial reports of casualties.
Witnesses said they noticed a blaze and flame coming out of the market near the New Market intersection around at around 7.30 pm.
"All of a sudden, everyone started to run," one of them said.
Firemen from eight units were trying to put out the blaze, fire service officials said, adding, the cause of the fire could not be ascertained immediately.
The extent of losses would be estimated later on, they concluded.
