Four people including two motorbikers were killed in separate road accidents in Magura and Jhalakathi.
In Magura, the two motorcyclists died after being crushed by the wheels of a truck in front of Dawood
Munsi Rice Mill area of Arpara Bazar under Shalikha upazila of the district last night.
The deceased were identified as Shahabur Rahman, 40, son of Nur Mohammad, and Shakib Ahmed, 27, son of Shamimur Rahman, both hailed from Junari village of Shalikha upazila.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shalikha Police Station Mosharraf Hossain said the accident occurred when a speeding truck rammed their motorcycle in the area as they were returning home riding on it around 9.30pm, leaving the duo dead on the spot.
Police recovered the bodies from the spot and sent those to the 250-bed Magura Sadar Hospital for post-mortem, he said.
Police seized the truck, however, its driver managed to flee the scene.
A case was filed in this connection and legal steps are under process in this regard, the OC added.
Meanwhile, two people were killed and at least 15 hurt on the Barishal-Patharghata highway Friday as a BRTC bus crashed into a tree in Rajapur upazila of Jhalakathi, the police said.
The deceased were identified as bus passenger Md Parvez, 35, and supervisor Md Mehedi, 45. Further details about them could not immediately be known.
Pulik Chandra Roy, officer-in-charge (OC) of Rajapur Police Station, said the accident occurred around 9:45am in the Kanudashkathi area after the Patharghata-bound bus hit a tree by the roadside following an altercation between the driver and the supervisor.
The supervisor and a passenger died at the scene and at least 15 other people, who boarded the bus, were injured, he said.
The injured were taken to Bhandaria Upazila Health Complex and Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.
"On information, police and the fire service rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies. Legal action will be taken in connection with the accident," the OC said.
