Four members of a family, including children and women, were burnt in a fire following a gas cylinder explosion in the early hours of Wednesday at Beraid in the city's Badda Natun Bazar.
The injured are Sahid Hasan, 37, his wife Rekha Akhter, 35, daughter Safa, 10, and son Safian, 9.
According to the fire service sources, the explosion occurred around 3.40am due to gas leakage from a cylinder at Sahid's residence.
Being informed, two firefighter units of Baridhara Fire Service rushed to the spot and doused the blaze around 4:10am.
The injured were taken to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (SHNIBPS).
Dr SM Aiyub Hossain, a residential medical officer (RMO) of SHNIBPS, told BSS that Shahid Hasan suffered 95 percent burn injuries, Rekha Akhter 30 percent, Safian 25 percent and Safa 11 percent- are being treated at the emergency department of the hospital.
Being in a critical condition, Shahid may need to be shifted at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital, the medical officer added.
