Bangladesh is set to roll out Covid-19 vaccine for the slum dwellers across the country. The campaign will begin with the vaccination of the residents of the capital's Korail slum on Tuesday (November 16).
Registration for vaccination will be available on-spot.
Korail slum, bordering Gulshan is one of the most densely inhabited slums in Bangladesh.
The campaign will kick-off with residents of Korail slum, and will be gradually expanded across other slums.
Health minister Zahid Maleque said, more than 3 lakh residents of Korail slum will be covered under the Covid-19 vaccination drive by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
He disclosed the information on Monday afternoon (November 15) while addressing an event.
The vaccination programme will be gradually extended to other slums, added the health minister.
Out of 11 crore doses of Covid vaccines Bangladesh has received, the government has administered 8 crore 50 lakh doses so far.
