July-August mass killing: 14 accused of ‍‍`genocide‍‍` to appear before ICT

Fourteen prominent individuals, including ten former ministers from the ousted Awami League government, are scheduled to appear before the International Crimes Tribunal today (Monday) regarding a case related to the mass killings that occurred in July and August. 

Security measures have been intensified around the tribunal area since the early morning. 

The tribunal‍‍`s Chief Prosecutor, Mohammad Tazul Islam, confirmed this development, stating that the suspects, apprehended for crimes against humanity, will be presented to the tribunal on Monday. 

Currently, they are in detention, facing charges in separate cases. 

Those set to appear in front of the tribunal comprise former Law Minister Anisul Haque, Faruk Khan, Dipu Moni, Rashed Khan Menon, Hasanul Haq Inu, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, former Prime Minister‍‍`s advisor Salman F Rahman, Tawfiq-e-Elahi, A. Razzak, Shahjahan Khan, Kamal Ahmed Majumder, Golam Dastagir Gazi, retired Appellate Division Justice Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik, and former Home Secretary Jahangir Alam. 

On October 27, a three-member judicial panel, led by Tribunal Chairman Justice Md. Golam Mortuza Mojumder, mandated their appearance. 

Judicial proceedings at the International Crimes Tribunal commenced on October 17 with the issuance of arrest warrants for Sheikh Hasina and 46 others on charges of crimes against humanity.
