BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is set to return to Bangladesh on Tuesday morning aboard a special air ambulance provided by the Emir of Qatar.

She will be accompanied by her two daughters-in-law—Zubaida Rahman, wife of Tarique Rahman, and Syeda Sharmila Rahman, widow of Arafat Rahman Koko.

Her personal physician, Prof AZM Zahid Hossain, currently in London, confirmed the news. “Alhamdulillah, Madam will leave Heathrow on Monday evening aboard the Qatari emir’s special air ambulance.

The flight will make a stopover in Doha before landing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Tuesday morning, In Sha Allah,” he said.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir had earlier announced that Khaleda Zia would return on Monday, but could not confirm the exact time due to variable factors. He stated that she would likely return on the same air ambulance that brought her to London.

Prof Zahid further detailed that the flight is scheduled to depart Heathrow at 4:10pm (local time) on Monday, stop in Doha at 1:25am, and land in Dhaka between 10:30am and 11:30am on Tuesday. A medical team from Qatar will be on board the air ambulance.

Meanwhile, Prof Shahabuddin Talukdar, head of Khaleda’s medical board and specialist at Evercare Hospital, has already arrived in London. He and Prof Zahid will take over the management of Khaleda’s treatment from the London Clinic doctors.

The 79-year-old former Prime Minister left for London on January 8 for advanced medical care and was admitted to The London Clinic the same day. Following 17 days of tests and treatment, she was discharged on January 25 and has since been receiving home care at her son Tarique Rahman’s residence.
