The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) won’t take part in the ‘meaningless’ president’s dialogue to reform the Election Commission (EC).
LDP president Colonel (retd) Oli Ahmad disclosed the decision during a press conference at the party’s office in capital Dhaka on Wednesday.
Criticizing own the former BNP leader said, “The responsibility for today’s situation also relies on me. I beg pardon to the people for this. I also played role in devising the process which enhanced the power of the then prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia in 1991.”
“If I understood I would bring balance between the jurisdictions of the President and the Prime Minister. All the constitutional institutions have been ruined already. Many urge caretaker government. Why so hurry to go in power. You have to work to bring balance in all institutions,” he said.
