The price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for consumers has been reduced again. The price of a 12-kg cylinder has been cut by Tk 29 — from Tk 1,270 to Tk 1,241.
The new rates were announced by the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) on Tuesday (October 7) and will take effect from 6 pm today.
In addition, the price of autogas (LPG used in vehicles) has been lowered from Tk 58.15 to Tk 56.77 per litre.
Last month, BERC had reduced the price of a 12-kg cylinder by Tk 3, setting it at Tk 1,270, while autogas was lowered by Tk 0.13 to Tk 58.15 per litre.
According to a BERC press release, for October, the prices have been adjusted based on the Saudi Aramco Contract Price (CP) for propane and butane — USD 495 per tonne and USD 475 per tonne, respectively — with a propane-butane ratio of 35:65, making the average CP USD 482 per tonne.
However, the price of government-supplied LPG remains unchanged at Tk 825 per 12.5-kg cylinder.
The adjustment applies not only to 12-kg cylinders but also to all sizes ranging from 5 kg to 45 kg.
