Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has claimed that Chhatra Dal and Chhatra Shibir leaders are leading the ongoing movement demanding cancellation of quota in government jobs.
He instructed the party leaders, "There has been an attack on our existence, there has been a threat. We have to deal with this situation. You get ready ward by ward.”
He said these things in an exchange meeting with Awami League leaders of Dhaka District and Metropolitan (North-South) on Wednesday (July 17) afternoon. An exchange meeting was held at Tejgaon Dhaka District Awami League office in Dhaka.
Awami League general secretary said, "Why will ordinary students go to occupy the streets with domestic weapons and engage in violence? The leadership of this movement has undoubtedly fallen into the hands of evil forces. We cannot remain silent in that situation.”
He also said, "We who are Bangabandhu`s soldiers, hold, cherish, believe in the spirit of the liberation war, are believers in that spirit; We cannot remain silent. Our existence has been attacked, threatened. We have to deal with this situation. So you get ready ward by ward. I don`t want to keep you here too long. Wherever they (go), even today they have an agenda of creating horrendous violence, a destructive agenda.”
Obaidul Quader said, "Here is not only the power of the police, but the power of our party, the party." The power that fought the liberation war of Bangladesh, the power that freed democracy under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, that power is the Awami League. We must harness this power today. We have to fulfill our respective responsibilities with devotion."
Giving instructions to the party leaders and workers, the Bridge Minister said, "I am instructing all our leaders and workers across the country on behalf of the leader (Sheikh Hasina), to be vigilant and take a strong stand all over the country to resist this evil evil force." There can be no compromise with any evil.”
