As of Friday evening, 1.1 million consumers were still without electricity in flood-affected areas. Several regions, including Feni, Noakhali, Lakshmipur, Comilla, Cox‍‍`s Bazar, Chandpur, Brahmanbaria, and Moulvibazar, have been inundated due to heavy rains and the surge of water from hills, according to the Rural Electrification Development Board (REB),

The power supply was intentionally cut off in many locations to prevent accidents caused by flooded substations, submerged electric meters, and damaged poles. Feni has experienced a complete blackout.

The REB has reported financial losses exceeding Tk 7.95 crore. Akash Kusum Barua, Assistant General Manager of Feni REB, stated that all 13 substations in the area have been shut down, leaving 441,546 customers without power. In Noakhali, Senior General Manager Zakir Hossain mentioned that approximately 250,000 customers are without power, with water levels inside their offices reaching waist height.

Mahbubul Alam, Assistant General Manager of Lakshmipur Palli Bidyut Samiti, noted that around 40,000 customers have been affected due to damaged transmission lines and poles. Similarly, Makbul Hossain, General Manager of Brahmanbaria REB, reported that 15,000 customers have been without electricity for days because of water damage to meters and poles. In Moulvibazar, General Manager ABM Mizanur Rahman indicated that power connections for 42,000 customers have been suspended.

Although the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) continues to supply electricity in regions like Sylhet and Comilla, many customers remain without power due to the ongoing floods.
