Film actress Pori Moni, who secured bail in a narcotics case yesterday, has been released finally from Kashimpur Women’s Central Jail this morning.
The actress was released from jail at 9:32 am.
Kashimpur Central Women’s Jail Super Halima Khatun confirmed the release of Pori Moni.
Despite getting bail, she was not released on Tuesday as the bail documents did not reach the jail authorities in time, the jail super said.
On Tuesday (August 31), Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge KM Emrul Kayes granted the bail upon a bond of Tk 50,000 after hearing on her bail petition in the narcotics case.
She will be on bail in the narcotics case until the probe report or chargesheet or the final report is submitted.
On August 22, Pori Moni’s lawyer Advocate Mozibur Rahman filed the bail plea.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained Pori Moni on August 4 from her Banani flat in Dhaka and seized huge amounts of foreign liquors and different drugs from there.
A minibar was found at Pori Moni’s residence where she regularly arranged parties, RAB said.
RAB brought drugs-related charges against Pori Moni and her aide Dipu in the case filed with Banani police station on August 6.
