Rainfall has brought relief to Dhaka and other parts of the country from an intense heatwave, coinciding with the start of Jaisthya, the second month of the Bengali summer.
According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), weather over the next week is expected to fluctuate between sunshine and rain.
Meteorologist Shahinul Islam told bdnews24.com that this pattern of alternating sunshine and showers may persist for the next 8 to 10 days.
He also noted that temperatures are likely to fall in areas affected by the heatwave.
Thursday’s regular weather bulletin mentioned the possibility of gusty winds and thunderstorms, particularly in Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions, with scattered showers expected in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in some areas of Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet. Daytime temperatures may drop, while nighttime temperatures are expected to remain stable.
