Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Senior Joint Secretary General of BNP, expressed his concerns over the growing uncertainty in Bangladesh and the government’s failure to ensure proper functioning of the administration.
He urged for greater accountability, saying, "The country is heading into a state of uncertainty. If the administration fails to perform its duties properly, everyone must be held accountable, including the Home Affairs Advisor. The Home Advisor must prove their efficiency. Law enforcement agencies must adopt a stricter approach against criminals."
Rizvi made these remarks on Wednesday during an event organized by ‘We Are BNP Family’ in Gulshan, where assistance was provided to cancer patients.
He also commented on the current state of cultural harmony in the country. Rizvi emphasized the importance of maintaining Bangladesh`s long-standing tradition of unity in cultural practices, stating, "The culture of unity is being destroyed. Anyone who wishes should be allowed to visit a shrine. Why is there opposition to the celebration of Basanta Utsav (spring festival) or theatrical performances? Why are shrines being destroyed? Just as we go to mosques, we also celebrate Basanta Utsav, Nazrul Jayanti, and Rabindra Jayanti. We have a millennia-old culture of unity. Cultural practices must continue."
Rizvi went on to highlight the increasing presence of godfathers in local neighborhoods, which is causing fear among the people.
"Godfathers are now emerging in local neighborhoods. People are living in fear. After the fall of Hasina, people expected peace, but their expectations have not been fulfilled," he added.
As tensions rise, Rizvi`s call for accountability and a return to unity resonates with many who feel the government`s failure to meet the people`s expectations is contributing to the instability in the country.
