BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman will return to the country despite all local-international conspiracy and evil efforts against him, said senior joint secretary general of the party Ruhul Kabir Rijvi.
He was speaking to a programme in the capital on Tuesday (September 7) marking 14th anniversary since Tarique Rahman was released from jail.
“Hopefully, the movement led by BNP will oust the government which came to power without any mandate of the people. The acting chairperson of the party, Tarique Rahman, will lead the movement,” Rizvi said.
Terming the fugitive as a leader of the suppressed and oppressed Rizvi said, “He came to this post from continual politics from the grassroots. Tarique’s image cannot be faded by spreading propaganda and hatching conspiracy against him.”
Claiming the charge against Khaleda Zia the BNP leader said, “She (Khaleda Zia) was sent to jail in false case, Tarique Zia became acting chairperson of the party as per the party constitution. Leaders and activists of the party became united under his leadership. The government must step down following the movement led by Tarique. He will return to the country as a hero, lead the nation and free Khaleda Zia.”
