Vaccination campaign resumes September 28

A nationwide vaccination campaign will be launched from September 28 to prevent coronavirus infection. This initiative has been taken on the occasion of the 75th birthday of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The director of health department's vaccination program and line director, Dr. Shamsul Haque confirmed the matter to the media on Sunday (September 26).

He said that 8 million doses will be inoculated in one day during the vaccination campaign. Health minister Zahid Malek would give a detailed briefing on the program.

The health minister, at a function last Thursday (September 23), said that a large-scale nationwide vaccination campaign would be launched again this month (September). More than one crore people will be vaccinated under the campaign. At the same time, the current vaccination program will continue.

In this regard, the Director General of the Department of Health, Prof. Dr. Abul Basar Mohammad Khurshid Alam said, "We are not calling this mass vaccination program as mass vaccination." However, we will give this vaccine in a large scale. About 2 crore vaccines will be given regularly every month including 1 crore through vaccination campaign.

Responding to a question from reporters, he said, "Sinopharm shots will be vaccinated all over the country again." In this case, moderna vaccines were given in the city corporation areas earlier but this time they will be vaccinated with Sinopharm.

Regarding the stock of vaccines, the Director General of Health further said, "We have adequate stock of vaccines and we have ensured the source of the required vaccines in the coming days."

Talking about the application of immunization of persons above 60 years of age in spot registration, he said that arrangements will be made for immunization of registered and unregistered persons above 60 years of age on a specific day of the week through spot registration on priority basis.
