The High Court has upheld the death sentences for 20 individuals and life imprisonment for five others in the tragic murder case of Abrar Fahad, a student at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).

Additionally, five individuals have been sentenced to life imprisonment for their involvement in the crime. They are: Muhtasim Fuad Hossain, Md. Akash Hossain, Muaz Abu Huraira, Amit Saha, and Ishtiaq Ahmed Munna.

A disturbing update came from the authorities on February 25, revealing that Muntasir Al Zemi, one of the individuals sentenced to death, managed to escape from Gazipur‍‍`s high-security central jail on August 6.

He broke through the wall to make his escape, causing serious concerns about jail security.

As the investigation continues, the families and supporters of Abrar Fahad are awaiting justice, hoping that the remaining fugitives will be brought to trial.

The case has highlighted the dangers of unchecked political influence within educational institutions and sparked nationwide debates on the safety of students in Bangladesh.
