India`s Central Government greenlights the export of 99,150 tons of onions to six nations across the Middle East and Asia, including Bangladesh.
In a recent announcement on Saturday, April 28, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution disclosed the approval for onion exports.
The destinations for these exports span beyond Bangladesh, extending to countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Bhutan, Bahrain, Mauritius, and Sri Lanka. However, specific allocations for each nation remain undisclosed.
This decision follows a previous move by India`s ruling BJP government, which on March 1, sanctioned the export of 50,000 tons of onions to Bangladesh. Notably, the export to Bangladesh was facilitated through the state-owned entity, National Cooperative Export Limited (NCEL).
