Dozens injured after BNP-police clash in Munshiganj

Dozens of leaders and activists of the BNP received injuries after clash with police in Munshiganj Sadar upazila on Wednesday afternoon.

 

According to the locals, at least 20 are people being treated for their injuries following the clash.

 

Earlier in the day, BNP leaders and activists brought out a procession protesting price hike of essentials in the country.

 

Police barred the BNP programme at Muktarpur Puraton ferry ghat in the upazila around 3:30pm, resulting the clash.

 

Masud Rana, member secretary of Jubo Dal's Munshiganj district unit, claimed two BNP men suffered bullet injuries during the clash.

 

On the other hand, police said district's Additional Superintendent of Police Minhajul Islam and Sadar Police Station Officer-in-charge Md Tariquzzaman are also among the injured.

 

Of the injured, Zahangir Hossain was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), hospital sources said.
