Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury has distributed 3,000 blankets among the underprivileged cold-stricken people in the capital.
"We will remain beside the people and provide proper services to them. We will gradually fulfil the promises given to the people," he said.
The minister was speaking at a blanket distribution programme held at Sabujbagh Purba Basabo Prince Garden area in Dhaka on Friday.
He said: "You (people) kept trust in the ‘boat symbol’ and now our time to respect your decision. Let`s work together to build a non-communal Bangladesh dreamt by Father of the Nation.”
Environment Minister said, “I am proud that I am a representative of Dhaka-9 constituency. I will serve the people of my area for the next five years regardless of party affiliation. “We have special plans for underprivileged people,” he said.
Chaired by Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Ward-5 Councilor Chitta Ranjan Das, the ceremony was attended, among others, by former Vice-Chancellor of Noakhali Science and Technology University Prof Dr M Ahiduzzaman, Professor at Tourism and Hospitality Department of Dhaka University Dr Santosh Kumar Deb, artist of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra and Bir Muktijoddha Rafiqul Alam, DSCC Regional Executive Officer Suemen Jo and actress Shimla.
