Newly appointed Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Saber Hossain Chowdhury on Friday paid tribute to the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, reports UNB.
He along with other members of the Cabinet paid homage to the portrait of the Father of the Nation in front of the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at 32 Dhanmondi.
Later, he paid tribute to the martyrs at Savar National Memorial, said a media release signed by Dipankar Bar, public relations officer of the ministry.
Saber Hossain took oath as the minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change at Bangabhaban Thursday evening.
While responding to the journalists, he expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and said maximum efforts will be made to bring the allocation from the International Loss and Damage Fund at the earliest.
It will be ensured that the allocations received actually reach the affected people and increased transparency in the use of Climate Fund money will ensure its maximum utilization, he said.
The minister said that true sustainable development is not possible without the development of the environment. Therefore, the policies and ideals of Bangladesh must be implemented to protect the environment.
He said that environmental issues will be implemented on a priority basis in this election manifesto. The Mujib Climate Prosperity Plan will be implemented.
