Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today predicted that light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at different parts of the country in the next 24 hours commencing at 9 am today.
"Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country", said a met office bulletin issued here today.
Day and night temperature may rise slightly over the country, it added.
The depression over Northwest Bay off West Bengal, North Odisha coast and adjoining area moved west-northwestwards and now lies over Chhattisgarh and adjoining area (Lat: 22.4o N, Long: 82.8o E ) as a land depression.
The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, centre of the Depression, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal to Assam across central part of Bangladesh.
Under its influence steep pressure gradient persists over North Bay. Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay.
Country's maximum temperature on Sunday was recorded by 35.4 degree Celsius at Sylhet and minimum temperature today was recorded by 24.0 degree Celsius at Khepupara.
Maximum rainfall for the last twenty four hours till 6am on Monday was recorded by 70 millimeters (mm) at Barishal.
