Rainfall is expected to continue across Bangladesh for the next five days, with several regions likely to see thunderstorms and moderately heavy showers as the monsoon remains fairly active over the country, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said.
In its regular bulletin issued Saturday, the Met Office forecast light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds at many places in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions.
A few places in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions may also receive rain during the period, while moderately heavy rainfall is possible at some locations across the country.
The weather department said day and night temperatures are likely to remain almost unchanged nationwide.
Meanwhile, a low-pressure area has formed over the Northwest Bay and adjoining coastal areas of West Bengal and North Odisha.
The system is expected to move west-northwestwards.
The monsoon trough currently extends from Rajasthan through Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar to the low-pressure area, then across southern Bangladesh towards Assam.
According to the BMD, the monsoon is currently fairly active over Bangladesh and strong over the North Bay.
