'Sitrang' turns to a powerful cyclone

Sitrang' has turned into a powerful cyclone and moved towards the coastal region with stormy wind and incessant rainfall.

It will lash in land on Monday evening and its Center will hit around 6am on Tuesday. 

State minister for disaster management and relief Md Enamur Rahman said the cyclone might hit 13 low-lying districts in the coastal region.

These are Satkhira, Khulna, Bagerhat, Jhalakathi, Pirojpur, Barguna, Patuakhali, Bhola, Barishal, Noakhali, Feni, Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar.  

He said the cyclone is changing its speed and moving towards Bangladesh only.

The state minister said preparation has been taken to tackle the cyclone.

A total of 7,030 shelter centres, which have been kept ready, have accommodations of 25 lakh people of 15 districts.
