An earthquake was felt in Dhaka and several other parts of Bangladesh on Sunday afternoon. According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, the tremor struck shortly after 5:15 pm, with its epicenter located in the Indian state of Assam.
Professor Humayun Akhter, a seismologist, told media that the quake measured 5.9 on the Richter scale at its point of origin in Assam.
No immediate reports of damage or casualties were available at the time of reporting.
