12 more children die amid measles outbreak

Directorate General of Health Services said 12 more children died from measles and measles-like symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours until Thursday morning.

Among the deaths, one case was confirmed as measles-related, while the other 11 were reported as suspected cases.

Officials said Dhaka recorded the highest number of suspected deaths during the reporting period.

According to DGHS data, the total number of confirmed measles deaths since March 15 has now reached 57, while suspected deaths have risen to 279.

The health authorities also recorded more than 1,200 new suspected measles cases in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of suspected infections to over 45,000.

At the same time, 286 new confirmed cases were reported, raising the total confirmed infections to 6,208.

The DGHS said more than 31,000 suspected patients have been admitted to hospitals since March, while over 28,000 have recovered.
