Twelve more children have died from measles and measles-like symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, while 1,303 patients were admitted to hospitals during the same period. The nationwide death toll has now risen to 451.
The information was released today in a press statement issued by the Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). The statement presented data recorded from 8:00am Thursday to the following 24 hours.
According to the DGHS, 1,192 suspected measles cases were reported during this period. From March 15 to May 15, the total number of suspected measles cases reached 55,611.
In the last 24 hours, 111 confirmed measles cases were identified. During the same period — from March 15 to May 15 — the total number of confirmed cases rose to 7,416.
The DGHS also said that 40,176 people with suspected measles were hospitalized between March 15 and May 15. Of them, 36,055 have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.
From March 15 to May 15, the total number of deaths linked to suspected measles stood at 377.
