3 more children die from measles, measles-like symptoms

Three more children have died in the country in the past 24 hours due to measles and measles-like symptoms, bringing the total number of deaths from measles and related complications to 831 since March 15. During the same period, another 1,075 people have been found to have measles or symptoms associated with the disease.

The information was disclosed in the regular measles situation report released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday.

According to the DGHS data, two children died from measles-like symptoms in the Chattogram division over the past day, while another child died after being infected with measles in the Dhaka division during the same period.

The health authorities said that from March 15 to Wednesday, a total of 831 people have died from measles and related symptoms across the country. Of them, 735 deaths were linked to measles-like symptoms, while 96 people died after being diagnosed with measles.

Meanwhile, 79 new measles cases were confirmed in the past 24 hours, while another 996 people developed symptoms associated with the disease.

With these new figures, the total number of people who have shown symptoms of measles since March 15 has risen to 126,540. During the same period, 15,739 measles cases have been confirmed nationwide.

According to the DGHS, a total of 109,366 people suffering from measles or related symptoms have been admitted to hospitals across the country since March 15. Among them, 105,198 patients have recovered and been discharged after receiving treatment.
