Three more children have died with measles-like symptoms in the country over the past 24 hours, while 1,218 new patients have been admitted to hospitals during the same period.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information in its regular measles situation report released on Friday.
According to the report, although three children died with symptoms of measles in the last 24 hours, no confirmed deaths from measles infection were recorded during the period.
With this, the total number of deaths from measles and measles-like symptoms across the country has reached 860 since March 15 until Thursday. Of the total deaths, 764 were due to measles-like symptoms, while 96 were confirmed measles-related deaths.
Meanwhile, 85 new measles cases were detected across the country in the last 24 hours. During the same period, 733 more people developed measles-like symptoms.
Since March 15, a total of 133,638 people have been reported with measles-like symptoms, while 16,740 confirmed measles cases have been recorded.
According to the DGHS data, a total of 115,879 people have been hospitalised with measles and measles-like symptoms nationwide since March 15. Of them, 111,857 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.
