Four more children have died with measles-like symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, while 1,008 new cases of measles and measles-like symptoms have been identified during the same period.
The information was disclosed in the Directorate General of Health Services’ (DGHS) regular measles report released on Tuesday.
According to the report, although four children died with measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours, no child was confirmed to have died from measles.
DGHS data shows that since March 15, a total of 702 children have died with measles-like symptoms across the country. In addition, 95 children have died after being confirmed to have measles. Overall, 797 children have died from measles and measles-like symptoms during this period.
The report further stated that 130 children were diagnosed with measles in the past 24 hours, while 878 children were identified as having measles-like symptoms. During the same period, 1,218 children were admitted to hospitals, and 879 children were discharged after receiving treatment.
According to the latest DGHS data, the number of suspected measles cases in the country since March 15 has reached 119,448. Of these, 14,708 cases have been confirmed as measles infections.
During this period, a total of 102,244 patients have been admitted to hospitals, while 98,411 patients have recovered and returned home after receiving treatment.
