The Public Service Commission has announced the 48th Special BCS examination to recruit 3,000 doctors across Bangladesh. This includes 2,700 assistant surgeons and 300 assistant dental surgeons.
Online application and fee submission will begin on June 1 at 10:00 AM and close on June 25 at 6:00 PM. The application fee is Tk 200, while candidates from underprivileged communities will pay Tk 50. The maximum age for applicants is 32 years.
The preliminary exam, tentatively scheduled for the second week of July, will consist of 200 multiple-choice questions totaling 200 marks, with a negative marking of 0.50 for each incorrect answer. The total exam duration is 2 hours.
Of the 200 marks, 100 will focus on the applicant’s relevant medical subject, while the remaining 100 will cover general topics including:
Bengali – 20 marks
English – 20 marks
Bangladesh Affairs – 20 marks
International Affairs – 20 marks
Mathematical Reasoning – 10 marks
Mental Ability – 10 marks
Candidates who qualify for the written test will face a 100-mark viva-voce, requiring at least 50 marks to pass.
Previously, nearly 9,000 doctors were appointed through the 39th and 42nd Special BCS exams.
