Five more children have died from measles and measles-like symptoms in Bangladesh over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll since March 15 to 758.
The figures were released on Sunday afternoon in the latest measles situation report published by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
According to the DGHS, four of the five children who died in the 24 hours until 8:00 a.m. on Sunday had measles-like symptoms, while one child was a laboratory-confirmed measles case. During the same period, 879 new suspected measles cases were reported, and 90 children were confirmed to have contracted the disease.
The report said a total of 758 children have died from confirmed measles or measles-like symptoms since March 15. Of them, 94 deaths were among laboratory-confirmed measles cases.
DGHS data also showed that 111,480 children have developed measles-like symptoms since March 15, while 13,500 laboratory-confirmed measles cases have been recorded during the same period.
