5 more children die from measles, measles-like symptoms

Five children died from measles and measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours, while 1,025 new cases were reported during the same period.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the figures in its latest measles update released on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the report, four children died with measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours, while another child with confirmed measles died during the same period.

With these deaths, the number of children who have died from measles or measles-like symptoms since March 15 has risen to 885. Of them, 786 died with measles-like symptoms, while 99 had confirmed measles.

In the past 24 hours, 84 new confirmed measles cases were identified, while 941 children were reported to have measles-like symptoms. During the same period, 879 patients were admitted to hospitals and 847 were discharged after treatment.

According to DGHS data, the number of suspected measles cases reported in the country since March 15 has reached 139,125. Of these, 17,469 have been confirmed as measles cases.

During the period, a total of 121,013 patients with measles or measles-like symptoms were admitted to hospitals, while 116,827 have been discharged after receiving treatment.
