Five more children have died with measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours (from 8:00 AM Wednesday to 8:00 AM Thursday), according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) measles bulletin.
The report says that since March 15, a total of 631 children have died with measles-like symptoms, while 93 confirmed measles deaths have been recorded. Altogether, the total death toll now stands at 724.
In the last 24 hours, 965 new people developed measles-like symptoms across the country. Since March 15, the total number of suspected cases has reached 102,993.
During the same period, 154 new confirmed measles cases were reported. Since March 15, a total of 12,286 people have been diagnosed with measles.
The bulletin also shows that 86,411 patients with suspected measles have been admitted to hospitals so far, of whom 82,759 have recovered and been discharged.
It further stated that there were no confirmed measles-related deaths in the last 24 hours. Among the five children who died with symptoms, three were from Dhaka Division, one from Sylhet, and one from Barishal.
