Five more children have died with measles-like symptoms in Bangladesh over the past 24 hours, while 1,107 new cases were reported during the same period.
The figures were released on Friday afternoon in the Directorate General of Health Services` (DGHS) regular measles situation report.
According to the DGHS, 968 new suspected measles cases were identified nationwide in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of suspected cases recorded between March 15 and July 3 to 103,961.
In addition, laboratory tests confirmed 139 new measles infections over the past day, raising the total number of confirmed cases since March 15 to 12,425.
The report also said that 87,262 patients with measles-like symptoms have been hospitalized between March 15 and July 3. During the same period, 83,543 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals.
According to the DGHS, a total of 636 children have died with measles-like symptoms since March 15. However, no deaths from laboratory-confirmed measles were reported in the past 24 hours. The cumulative death toll from confirmed measles stands at 93.
