Five more children have died with measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours in Bangladesh. During the same period, 1,137 people were reported to have been infected with measles or showing measles-like symptoms.
The information was revealed in the regular measles report published by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Friday.
According to the report, laboratory tests confirmed measles in 187 children over the past 24 hours. In addition, another 950 children received treatment for symptoms associated with measles.
Data from the DGHS shows that between March 15 and July 24 this year, 715 children died after developing measles-like symptoms. During the same period, another 95 children died from laboratory-confirmed measles infections. In total, 810 children have died from measles and measles-related symptoms during this period.
The DGHS reported that the total number of suspected measles cases in the country has reached 122,150. Of these, 15,194 cases have been confirmed through laboratory testing.
So far, a total of 104,717 measles patients have been admitted to hospitals. Among them, 101,056 patients have recovered and been discharged.
